Getting Started with CallMerlin
In 5 steps you'll have your first AI phone agent running.
Setup wizard
After your first login, the setup wizard opens: a step-by-step guide through the basics of CallMerlin. You can skip any step and finish later.
Steps: company details, first connection, activate a template, create a PIN user, and pick a channel to test.
Reopen the wizard via Open setup help on the dashboard overview or the Getting started with CallMerlin checklist.
Step 1: Create an account
Go to callmerlin.app/signup and create an account. You get a free 14-day trial.
Step 2: Add a connection
Go to Connections in the dashboard and connect the systems you use. Choose, for example, Exact Online or Moneybird for accounting, HubSpot, Salesforce or Pipedrive for CRM, Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 for calendar and email, or Slack, Shopify and AFAS. Search for your connection if it is not in the featured list, then connect it. CallMerlin uses the connected data to answer questions and perform actions.
Put connections in a connection group, or mark company-wide tools as Shared. See Connections.
Step 3: Set up a template
Go to Templates in the dashboard. CallMerlin automatically shows the templates that match your active connections. Choose the template you want and click Activate template.
Step 4: Create a PIN user
Go to PIN Users and create a PIN. Select which tools this PIN may use. Assign a connection group, or leave empty for shared connections only. A PIN belongs to at most one PIN group. Active templates apply to your whole account, so they are available to every PIN user.
Step 5: Test it
In the dashboard, click Test Merlin now (after the setup wizard, or go to Webcall widget → Start test conversation). Enter the PIN from a PIN user you created. Minutes count toward your plan. Set voice, language and greeting under Settings.
Done! You now have a working AI agent. Next steps: connect a phone number or embed the widget on your website.
