Alerts

Proactive notifications when something changes in your connected tools.

Proactive Alerts

Alerts are rules that Merlin checks periodically. When a condition is true (e.g. an invoice is more than 30 days overdue), Merlin automatically sends a notification via email or Slack.

How does it work?

  1. You create an alert rule in the dashboard
  2. Merlin checks the rule at the configured interval (e.g. every 15 minutes)
  3. If the condition is true, you receive a notification
  4. The rule enters snooze to prevent repeated notifications

Creating an alert

  1. Go to Alerts in the dashboard
  2. Click New alert
  3. Choose a provider (e.g. Moneybird)
  4. Select the condition type and set the threshold
  5. Choose the check interval and snooze duration
  6. Save

Tip: Start with one of the predefined templates and adjust the thresholds.

Four condition types

1. Threshold

A number above or below a limit. Example: "Notify when the number of outstanding invoices exceeds 10."

2. Overdue

Items exceeding a deadline. Example: "Notify when an invoice is more than 30 days overdue."

3. Change

The number of items has changed by a percentage. Example: "Notify when the number of draft invoices has increased by more than 50%."

4. Custom condition

A free-text question that Merlin answers using AI. Example: "Are there any invoices above 10,000 EUR that haven't been paid yet?"

Snooze and acknowledge

After an alert, the rule enters snooze for the configured duration (default 24 hours). This prevents you from receiving the same notification repeatedly.

You can acknowledge an alert in the dashboard. This stops the snooze timer. At the next check, the condition is re-evaluated.

Note: After acknowledging, Merlin re-evaluates the condition. If it is still true, you will receive a new notification.

Alert log

All triggered alerts are logged with timestamp, trigger data, and resolution. You can find the alert log at the bottom of the Alerts page.
