File Upload

Upload images or documents directly in your CallMerlin chat. Merlin analyzes the content, creates a summary and offers to forward the data to your connected tools (CRM, accounting, project management).

Supported file types

Maximum file size: 10 MB per file. Maximum 5 uploads per session.

How does it work?

1. Click the paperclip icon next to the chat input, or drag a file onto the chat window
2. Merlin shows a processing indicator
3. Within seconds you receive a summary or analysis
4. Merlin asks what you want to do with the results

Availability per channel

Use cases

• Screenshot of error message — Merlin diagnoses the problem
• Invoice PDF — Merlin summarizes amount and line items, logs in your accounting
• Business card photo — Merlin creates a contact in your CRM
• Contract PDF — Merlin extracts clauses and creates a CRM note
• CSV spreadsheet — Merlin analyzes and creates a summary for Slack
• Handwritten note — Merlin digitizes and creates a task

Privacy and storage

Files via the normal paperclip are processed temporarily:

• Images are analyzed in memory and never saved permanently
• Documents are temporarily sent to the AI provider and automatically deleted at session end
• No chat files stored in our permanent database or cloud storage

Exception (explicit): if you ask Merlin to save a file on a case (or say yes after creating a case), that file goes to EU Storage under the case. See Cases. That is a different processing than chat upload.

Limits

Plan availability

File upload is available on all plans (Starter, Professional, Business, Enterprise). No configuration needed.
