Meeting summaries
After a Zoom or Teams video meeting you can ask for a summary and action items in any CallMerlin channel. Merlin fetches the transcript, creates one summary and stores it. Follow-up questions use the stored summary, not the full transcript.
Wait for the transcript
Do not ask immediately after hanging up. Zoom and Microsoft Teams must process the transcript first. CallMerlin can only summarize once that file is available.

Tip: Wait until Zoom emails you that the transcript is ready, or until the transcript appears in the Teams meeting chat. Only then ask CallMerlin. If you ask too early, you get a message that no transcript is available yet.
How fast is CallMerlin itself?
Once the transcript is available:
- First summary: usually 15–60 seconds (fetch transcript + AI)
- Follow-up questions ("what were the action items?"): faster, Merlin uses the stored summary

Zoom
Requirements
- Zoom Pro or higher
- Cloud recording enabled
- Audio transcript enabled in Zoom recording settings
- Host records to the cloud
- Zoom connected under Connections (OAuth)
Setup
- In the Zoom web portal go to Recording settings
- Enable Cloud recording and Audio transcript
- Connect Zoom in CallMerlin under Connections
- Grant the PIN permission Meeting summaries
- Ask for example:
@CallMerlin summarize the latest Zoom meeting
Microsoft Teams
Requirements
- Microsoft 365 connected under Connections
- Live transcription enabled during the meeting
- Tenant admin: enable meeting transcription for online meetings in Microsoft 365
- PIN permission Meeting summaries
Setup
- Connect Microsoft 365 under Connections
- Enable transcription during each meeting (meeting controls)
- Ask your IT admin to enable meeting transcription for online meetings (Microsoft 365 tenant)
- Grant the PIN permission Meeting summaries
- Ask in Teams:
@Merlin summarize the latest meeting

Slack voice clips
Separate from Zoom/Teams meeting summaries: send @CallMerlin a voice clip (voice message, max. 5 min). Merlin transcribes the clip and replies in the thread. Works with the standard CallMerlin Slack app; no extra setup needed.

Limits
- Maximum 20 meeting summaries per account per day
- Maximum 50 follow-up questions per account per day
- Summary remains available for 90 days
Billing
Meeting summaries via Slack or Teams count as a normal chat session: 0.5 minutes per new session (after 15 minutes of silence).
